Dr. Bernadette Wright, founder of and Director of Research and Evaluation at Meaningful Evidence, brings over 20 years of practical program evaluation and social research experience. At Meaningful Evidence, she has managed over 20 program evaluation and research projects for delighted clients. Her projects with clients have led to presentations at national and international conferences, journal articles, and being selected as an “Exemplary Evaluation” by the American Evaluation Association.

Bernadette’s research into how to make program evaluation more useful has led to:

  • Speaking at local, national, and international conferences and workshops such as half-day workshops at the 2018 and 2019 American Evaluation Association Summer Evaluation Institutes in Atlanta and workshops with Candid (formerly Foundation Center) in Washington, DC
  • Dozens of articles and guest blogs in publications such as a 2017 article in Journal of MultiDisciplinary Evaluation, two articles in Stanford Social Innovation Review, and an award-winning paper delivered at the 2015 Association for Business Simulation and Experiential Learning conference in Las Vegas
  • Her new book with Dr. Steven E. Wallis, Practical Mapping for Program Evaluation and Applied Research (Sage Publications, 2019)

Before starting her own business, Bernadette was Consultant at The Lewin Group, where she conducted and managed research on aging and disability issues for federal clients. Before that, she was Policy Research Analyst at AARP Public Policy Institute, where she analyzed proposed legislation and regulations to inform AARP’s advocacy strategies and developed publications to inform public dialogue on supportive services and community living issues. In her early career, she was Senior Evaluation Specialist at the Baltimore Mayor’s Office of Employment Development. She earned her PhD in public policy/program evaluation from the University of Maryland. She is a member of American Evaluation Association and Washington Evaluators.
